Cosmetic dentistry

Cosmetic dentistry is in the process of beautification and maintenance of teeth in order to have a bright smile. Aesthetic dentistry processes are diverse and consist of veneers, teeth whitening, dental cleaning, dental implants, dentures, dental replacements and more.

Before opting for a process of cosmetic dentistry, oral health is essential - without cared for and healthy teeth none of the specific procedures can be applied.
Fair treatment of cosmetic dentistry includes:
● Air polish
● Tooth whitening
● Veneers
● Dental tattoo

Tooth whitening is a procedure of cleaning and bleaching of the teeth.

A correct treatment should have the following:
1. Scaling and airflow
2. Tooth bleaching
3. fluoridation and

The causes for tooth coloration are various:
● intrinsic: use of tetracycline, over fluoridation, endodontic treatment
● extrinsically: nicotine, food pigments, tea, coffee.

Tooth whitening with trays need multiple sessions.
In the first session the practitioner takes the dental impression for the fabrication of the tray. The whitening gel is then put in the tray. The whitening gel should be used according to the fabrication instructions.
A more fast treatment is the tooth bleaching with UV light. The results are faster and brighter.
Usually the intrinsic pigmentation can not be solved only with tooth whitening. For such cases we recommend veneers. Veneers are used for colored teeth, fractured teeth, teeth with large fillings, or to change the shape and size of teeth. To improve the dental esthetic and for a beautiful smile the veneers are the perfect solution. After applying the veneers the teeth will not be colored by tea, coffee or tobacco anymore. To find out the price for a treatment with veneers make an appointment to one of our experts for a consultation.

Dental tattoos can be made out of gold, platinum, semiprecious metals, crystals or diamonds. The procedure is pain-free and it can be reversible.

PROPHYLAXIS TREATMENT

Dental prophylaxis prevents the disease of the dental structures and the appearance of the periodontitis. The best prevention method is the regular appointment at the dentist. The consult with a specialist means the oral health is kept under control, and in the case of the appearance of caries or periodontal disease the problem is solved from the start without any complications.
Professional fluoridation
The application of fluoride creates a protective chemical barrier around the teeth. The fluoride links with the enamel under the form of fluorapatite. Because of the concentration of the fluoride in the professional gels the results are very good. The application of fluoride gel is recommended twice a year in children and patients with orthodontic braces.
Tooth scaling
The tartar is bacterial plaque that wasn't properly cleaned and has been mineralized. It can be supragingivally (poor oral hygiene) or subginigval (mineral concentration of the saliva).
Over time, plaque will lead to destruction of alveolar dental ligament (located between the tooth and bone). This is a very serious condition that can lead to serious dental complications. Once that occurs, the plaque is a permanent source of gingival inflammation and irritation. Tartar retains much more plaque and is impossible to be removed through brushing. Scaling is mainly aimed at removing plaque above and below the gum.
Dental sealing
Used especially in children, after the complete eruption of the teeth, dental sealing is a modern method for the prevention of caries. It is a non- or minimal invasive procedure. Once sealed, the teeth are much easier to clean. The sealing materials also contain fluoride which helps in decay prevention.

HYALURONIC ACID

We all want to be beautiful as long as possible. What can we do when the first signs of aging appear or we simply want fuller lips? Now we can use the injection with hyaluronic acid.

Hyaluronic acid has an important role in the suppleness, elasticity and tonicity of the epidermis.

What can we improve with the help of hyaluronic fillers?
Fillers can correct the wrinkles on the forehead (in some cases it can be associated with botox), the naso-labial wrinkles, marionette line, cheeks and lips. When injected right under the skin, hyaluronic acid smoothens and tones the skin, giving a younger and fresher look.
The effects of injection with hyaluronic acid generally takes several months and the duration of these effects vary depending on factors such as age, injection amount, injection site skin quality and overall health status and lifestyle of the patient. Thus, depending on the wishes of the patients and the materials used, the treatment may be repeated at intervals of 6-12 months.

Side effects that may occur in exceptional cases are:
• rash
• pruritus
• edema
• hives
• pain/ sensitivity
• bruising

Most side effects are mild and disappear after a few days.
Contraindications to treatment with hyaluronic acid
This procedure is contraindicated in individuals allergic to substances in the injection, people who have immune system disorders or autoimmune diseases, persons undergoing treatment with anti-inflammatory, antiplatelet agents or anticoagulants, as well as pregnant and lactating women.

Care before and after the injection of hyaluronic acid

To minimize the risk of bruising at the injection site, patients are advised not to schedule the intervention in their menstrual period (during this period blood coagulability discrete changes).
Also, after this procedure it is better to avoid makeup and smoking for 12 hours, and the first 3-4 days is preferred to sleep face up.
For 7-14 days should avoid extreme temperatures, going to the sauna and solarium, cosmetic or laser treatments, massage, mesotherapy. Less than 7 days is recommended to avoid any dental treatment and other variations of pressure or suction (eg kissing, smoking).
